True Love

The other day in my Institute class (preparing for an Eternal Marriage), my teacher told us a story.

One day a young man was walking down the road and he found a wallet. Wanting to return the wallet to its owner the young man opened it to see if any identification was inside. But there was no identification; just some bills and an old letter. The young man opened the letter hoping to find at least a name. When he read the letter he found out that it was a "dear john" letter. A girl named Hannah had written this letter to a man named Michael, and the letter was dated almost 60 years earlier.
In the letter, Hannah told Michael that she loved him so much, but her mother forbade her to ever see him again.

The young man reading the letter knew that the Michael probably really wanted this letter back if he'd been carrying it for that long. So the young man spent most of the day trying to track down Hannah. Her address was the only thing he had to go on. Eventually he found out that Hannah lived in a rest home. He called and asked the director if he could visit Hannah. The young man was accompanied with the Director of the nursing home to the 3rd floor. When the young man walked up to Hannah, he could tell that in her day she was a beautiful young woman. He asked her if she knew Michael and showed her the letter.

"Where did you get this?" she asked. "I loved Michael so much, and I still do. Michael Goldstein was his name. I never married. No one ever really measured up to Michael."
Hannah didn't know where Michael was. This letter was the last communication that passed between them.

The young man thanked Hannah and was on his way out with the security guard. The security guard asked if he found the owner to wallet. The yound man said no, but would continue his search in the morning since it was pretty late at night. When the security guard asked to see the wallet he said, "Hey! That's Mr. Goldstein's wallet. Gosh he's always losing it."

Michael Goldstein?

The young man ran back to the rest home and went up to the 8th floor and found Mr. Goldstein. When the young man told Michael that he had read the letter, Michael's face turned pale. "You read the letter?" He asked. "Hannah was the only woman I ever loved. I love her so much. I was absolutely heart broken when she sent me this. She was so beautiful.....I never married. There was just never anyone who was better than Hannah."

The young man looked at the now 86-year-old man and said, "Michael, will you come with me?"

Together they took an elevator down to the third floor. When they walked in the room Michael said, "Hannah?"

Hannah turned around and stood up. "Michael?" and they embraced. After 60 years of being apart they still loved each other. Together they sat down holding hands and talking about their lives.

They young man and the director walked out of the room with tears in their eyes marveling at the love that these two had for each other.

A week later the young man got a call from the director of the rest home. "Want to come to a wedding?" The young man knew it could be no other than Michael and Hannah.
At the wedding, Hannah was lovely and Michael stood tall and strong. After 60 years they were now uniting the love they had for each other. And the young man had never seen so much love..........and it was just going to grow.
